Give pumpkins an afterlife: Free composting through November

Happy Halloween, JacksonWhen Halloween is over, give those jack-o’-lanterns a second act. Teton County Integrated Solid Waste and Recycling is accepting pumpkins for free composting through November.

Unpainted pumpkins can be dropped off at one of two county locations:

  • Teton County Recycling Center during office hours.
  • Trash Transfer Station during operating hours.

Pumpkins will also be accepted at the free Fall Clean Up Day at the rodeo grounds on Friday, Nov. 6.

To help ensure healthy compost, pumpkins must be free of paint and decorations. Remove candles, lights, stickers and any other added materials before dropping them off.

Composting gives pumpkins a useful afterlife, keeping them out of the landfill and returning nutrients to the soil.

Have a fun and safe spooky season, Jackson Hole!
